Over the past few years my life has been touched with cancer by two different people very close to me. The first one to get the horrible disease was my little cousin Mazzi Alexis. She was only three days old when diagnosed with neuroblastoma. Although this cancer is very rare and risky Mazzi survived after a long three years. During that time I remember being surprised because she was so young, but found myself helping out in any way possible. I would spend my weekends sleeping at the hospital watching Mazzi so her mother, Krista, could go home and rest. The process was tough for everyone, but we all got through it together.

Unfortunately my family must undergo that same process of dealing with someone in the family having cancer. A few days ago my dear grandmother was diagnosed with lung cancer, stage 2. At first I really did not feel anything because I did not know what feel. After some time, I started to feel a little shocked then upset. My grandmother and I have always been close since I was little, and hearing news like this really is shocking and frightening.

Having family and support at a time like this is a huge deal. Without family and friends, times like these would be a lot harder to bare and get through. They helped me get through it all, and I know family can help anyone else get through any problems of their own.
