Many riders like to keep their bike and gear clean but sometimes find it difficult to keep them clean after a ride. There are some ways to keep them both clean without a lot of work.

A great way to keep the bike clean is by putting WD-40 on the plastic. This will put a protective layer over the plastic that will help with the mud not sticking. WD-40 will make the bike much easier to clean also. The rider would find that the mud wouldn’t stick to the plastic as much and that it would also be easier to spray the mud off with a hose. Another way to keep the mud off would be to use thin and clear, double sided tape. It will take time to put on but at the end of a race the rider can simply peel off the tape and admire how the plastic would not have any mud stuck to it.

Keeping the gear clean is a much different task. While the gear is out of use, be sure to keep it washed and in a bag or hung up on a rack somewhere. Doing these things will actually keep the gear in great condition. Keeping the helmet and boots clean is fairly easy. The boots could also be sprayed with a layer of WD-40 to keep the mud off but if that option is not available then simply keeping them clean and stored in a safe place when they are not in use will keep the boots in great shape. The helmet is the hardest piece of gear to keep clean. Cleaning the outside of the helmet is simple but the inside is much more difficult. Normally, helmets come with a removable liner on the inside of the helmet that is normally washing machine safe. Keeping the liner clean will keep the smell down and keep the inside of the helmet clean. Cleaning the inside of the helmet is very important because all of the sweat and saliva will build up and make the inside of the helmet smell and cleaning it will keep any bacteria away.

Keeping the bike and gear in clean condition will extend the use of the machine and gear. Although, having clean gear and a shiny dirtbike is a huge added bonus.
