Fastlane is a Raw exclusive and the final pay per view before the show of shows: Wrestlemania. That puts a big weight on the shows shoulders to tie up the loose ends and get the set rivalries for Wrestlemania. WWE has the opportunity to set up for an amazing Wrestlemania, but the questions on wrestling’s fans minds is, can they do it? Let’s find out.

All of the championships on Raw will be up for grabs except for Jericho’s US title. The first of these to be fought over will most likely be the Raw Tag Team championship. It will see champions Anderson and Gallows take on challengers Enzo and Big Cass. Anderson and Gallows have only recently been awarded the straps and it wouldn’t really be smart for them to lose them on their first big show title defense. So WWE should have the champions retain and continue their run for longer to make them seem like more credible threats.

Braun Stroman has been on an absolute monster run in the past few months. WWE has done an amazing job at keeping him looking like a powerful monster, but his rival for this pay per view is the BIg Dog himself Roman Reigns. While Braun has been booked as an unstoppable force Roman is seen as the company’s next big thing and will more likely than not just run through Braun on his path to face Undertaker at Wrestlemania. This will be a huge waste of Braun’s push and all the time they put into building him up. It would be nice if Braun didn’t just go down like so many before him to the self proclaimed “Big Dog”

Samoa Joe made a huge debut on Raw by attacking Seth Rollins for his boss Triple H. This seemed like the start of a feud that would lead to a match at Fastlane, but Seth was injured during the attack, and will be on the shelf until Wrestlemania. With the plan being all messed up, Joe needed something to do this weekend, enter Sami Zayn. Sami has had relatively nothing to do after his feud with Braun, but this could be a nice change of pace for Zayn. putting him in the match with Joe will be good for the both of them. They are both great workers and will definitely put on a possible match of the night.

Neville has come back from an injury at Roadblock and has been steamrolling through the Cruiserweight division like an animal eventually picking up the Cruiserweight Championship. He will be defending is title against Jack Gallagher this Sunday, and this can be a sleeper choice for match of the night. Both of these men are insanely talented and could out on the exciting, highflying matches that the Cruiserweights are known for. While Gallagher is a fan favorite it will be smart if WWE keeps the strap on Neville, he has been going on a heel tear just destroying anyone in his way, and having him pick up the win here will have him going into Wrestlemania looking untouchable.

Bayley has just recently won the Raw Women’s Championship from Charlotte on an episode of Raw, and if the cycle continues Charlotte will win it back at Fastlane keeping her PPV streak alive. Now there’s nothing wrong with this, but it would have been much better for WWE to give Bayley her big title win at Wrestlemania, but no it isn’t going to be as special a moment it could have been. Charlotte will definitely pick up the win here maybe eve with the help of Sasha Banks who is looking to turn heel sooner or later.

The main event of the night will most likely see Goldburg take on WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens. This match will be the biggest disappointment of the night because WWE will probably just have Goldburg squash KO in a matter of minutes. This will be an  unfitting to a championship run that was really given a chance to get off the ground. With Goldburge winning the title he will definitely be keeping it up until he takes on Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania.

All in all this can be a very enjoyable show, and if WWE plays their cards right, this can be a great lead up into Wrestlemania.
