Studying is something that many students struggle with. It can be very difficult if students have problems focusing and putting their full effort into their studies.

A technique that I have found very helpful while studying is taking breaks in between periods of studying. Studying for a half hour, and then taking a fifteen minute break in between helps me focus much more. It lets me rest my mind, which then helps me put much more effort into focusing when I am studying. I prefer this method over straining my mind with hours of studying nonstop.

Another study method that I find helps me a lot is taking my notes, and pretending to explain/teach it to another person. When I find a way to explain the material to another person, it then helps me understand it myself.

Quizzing myself has always helped me make sure that I know the material. If I do well on the quizzes I give myself than I feel better about being tested on the material, but if i do not do well than I know that more studying is needed.

When studying for math tests, I prefer actually doing the problems, and learning how to best work them out, rather than studying notes. Reading about working through a problem does not help me nearly as much as actually working through it.

Studying is a skill that differs per individual. Being successful is a matter of figuring out which methods work best.
