Bewitched is a romantic fantasy comedy directed by Nora Ephron. The two main characters are Isabel Bigelow (Nicole Kidman) and Jack Wyatt (Will Ferrell). Bewitched is not only a movie from 2005, but is also a sitcom from the 60’s. In the movie, the characters are re-making the sitcom.

Isabel Bigelow is a witch who just wants to be “normal”. She chooses to move into the mortal world and has decided she no longer wants to be a witch. The power to have everything at the snap of her fingers is too much for her. Jack Wyatt is an actor who is struggling to find the right role for him. He had hit a rough patch when his wife divorced him, took his house and money, and finds out his movies are not as great as he thought they were. Jack is hoping being cast as Darrin in Bewitched will really help his image.

Isabel ends up running into Jack one day whilst out shopping and exploring the town. The one thing that caught Jack’s attention was the way she twitched her nose. He knew she was perfect for the role of Samantha, who always twitched her nose when she casted spells. Jack finds the courage to talk to Isabel whilst she was having coffee and offered her a job to play Samantha Stevens. Isabel goes to the studio to show everyone her nose twitch and ends up getting the role as Samantha Stevens (even though Isabel was never allowed to watch Bewitched because it was a “disgrace” to their kind).

There are many complications that occur during the characters trying to re-make the old sitcom. Jack ends up taking all the lines so that everything is focused on him (Darrin), but Samantha is the main character in the show. When Isabel realizes her characters lines were all cut she is furious. Her and her aunt Clara put a spell on Jack. Once the spell is cast Isabel is all Jack can think about. He becomes utterly infatuated with her. After a while, she cannot stand him being so in love with her because it wasn’t real. It was all fake because of the spell. She wanted real love. Isabel finds a way to undo the spell her and aunt Clara put on Jack.

Her next mission is the tell Jack the truth, that she is a witch. A real witch who flies on a broom, casts spells, and can do magic. He doesn’t react in the best way, but eventually overcomes it. When he realizes Isabel is leaving the mortal world he knows that he loves her. He goes to her to confess his love.

I recommend Bewitched to anyone who likes romantic comedies. The film is goofy and cheesy, but that is what makes it great in my opinion.
