Reservoir Dogs Review

One of the most recent movies I have watched was Quentin Tarantino’s Reservoir Dogs. Reservoir Dogs is an action, indie and crime fiction film set in Los Angeles. I personally love most things that Tarantino makes such as Pulp Fiction and Django, those two are my favorites, however this recent watch has made it into that list as one of my most liked and favorite movies. The movie has an amazing cast of actors that feature Steve Buscemi as Mr. Pink, Michael Madsen as Mr. Blonde and even Tarantino himself as Mr. Brown.

The movie starts out with eight men sitting at a table in a diner. Six of the two men are called by their suffix and a color, for example Mr. Pink or Mr. Orange. However the last two, we learn their full names and their occupations. One is the mob’s leader and organizer whose name is Joe Cabot and the other is his son, Eddie Cabot. Then we learn that the mob is planning a diamond heist. The plan goes as follows:  Mr. Blonde and Mr. Blue are on crowd control, Mr. Brown seemed to be getaway and Mr. Pink, Mr. Orange and Mr. White’s jobs were to secure the diamond and escape. However, problems in this plan start showing up once they are trying to get into the vault and the manager won’t give Mr. Blonde the key, this heavily angers Mr. Blonde, he shoots the manager causing the stand off to erupt into gunfire and mass confusion. In this confusion, it is shown that Mr. Blue was shot and Mr. Blonde shot and killed multiple civilians. This was something that none of the characters could’ve predicted, especially because they were supposed to be professionals, not murders. In the midst of the confusion, Mr. Pink, Blonde and Orange all manage to evade the police and hide in a factory, while hiding there they realize that the heist was a setup.

A quote that really got to me in the movie was said by Mr. Pink “I don’t wanna kill anybody. But if I gotta get out that door, and you’re standing in my way, one way or the other, you’re gettin’ outta my way.” This reinforces the statement that not everyone is as they seem. A criminal can be diplomatic and have some good in them but also a “gentleman” can be like the most savage of animals.
I feel that this movie was outstanding and definitely worth the watch on Netflix. I mainly liked the movie for its hidden messages and how everyone can break and change given the right amount of pressure. However, I felt that the movie did not tell some of the characters stories too well such as  Mr. Blue and Mr. Blonde’s hostage scenario. Overall though I felt the movie did a satisfactory job with the backstory and I also felt the actors did an outstanding job with their parts.
